Best Bars in Auckland
Local Recommendations from our My Guide Auckland team
One of the world's most cosmopolitan cities, you're guaranteed a great time in Auckland Bars. Whether you're out for some chic cocktails with friends, or want to party on down with the young crowd, Auckland has something for everyone.
Bars in Auckland are vibrant places. They cover all types of clientele, so it shouldn't be hard to find an area that suits you. Students and backpackers should head to Ponsonby. This suburb is brimming with great student deals on beer, cocktails and pre-club atmosphere. Karangahape Road (K-Road) is also a big student hangout and bridges the gap between cheap and boho-chic. There are lots of unassuming little bistros and lounge bars here, and is a lot more affordable than in town. Viaduct Harbour/Princes Wharf is where the A-listers go, along with SkyCity. You'll pay more for your mojitos, but the views are stunning and the vibe is exclusive. Parnell is always bustling, trendy without being too claustrophobic. Devonport is very chilled out, as are Mt Eden and Epsom. During the week, most bars will shut around midnight. Weekends, maybe an hour later, but if you want an all-nighter, head to the CBD or Ponsonby.
